On March 31st, 2025, the Art Room of Agios Georgios Lyceum in Larnaca was transformed into a vibrant creative space—filled with color, imagination, and… old clothes!
As part of the Erasmus+ programme, KyklOIKOdromio organized an interactive fabric upcycling workshop with the participation of 30 students aged 16–18.
The activity began with an introduction to the key principles of the circular economy, focusing on the shift away from the traditional “produce–consume–dispose” model toward more sustainable and responsible consumption habits. Students were introduced to everyday circular practices such as reusing, repairing, swapping, recycling, and of course, upcycling and repurposing.
With this theoretical foundation in place, students moved on to hands-on creation: armed with scissors, thread, and lots of inspiration, they transformed forgotten garments into new, useful items—from tote bags and wallets to decorative accessories.
The participants’ response was overwhelmingly positive, proving that sustainability can be both creative and fun.
The KyklOIKOdromio team extends heartfelt thanks to the school and its educators for their collaboration. We look forward to more actions that empower the younger generation to create, reuse, and protect the environment.
