On 6th December 2024, Kykloikodromio participated in an informative workshop organized by the Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, as part of the European Week for Waste Prevention. The workshop, held at the Cultural Centre "Melina Mercouri Theatre" in Nicosia, was conducted under the motto "Don't Give Food to Waste."
The event welcomed approximately 80 primary school students from Nicosia, who engaged enthusiastically in the activities, gaining valuable insights into reducing food waste and sustainable waste management.
This year's theme, "Food Waste," underscored the severity of food waste as an issue that harms the environment, depletes valuable resources, and incurs significant economic and social costs. Globally, nearly 1.3 billion tonnes of food are discarded annually, while in the European Union, about 88 million tonnes of food are wasted each year.
