On March 26th, 2024, the historic Ledra Palace Hotel in Nicosia came alive with energy, passion, and purpose as the Closing Ceremony of the UN Youth Champions for Environment and Peace Programme 2024 took place—marking four impactful years of empowering youth across the island.
Among the organizations proudly showcasing their actions was kyklOIKOdromio. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about recent actions, workshops on circular economy, upcycling, and sustainable living.
The event featured a thought-provoking roundtable discussion moderated by Umer Fasie Bashir, where past Youth Champions—including Maria Kola, Gizem Oner, Roman Tofis, and Sude Dogan—shared personal reflections on their journey through the programme and how it helped shape them into agents of change.
This year’s cohort also took the stage, presenting their own environmental projects developed after months of capacity-building workshops demonstrating the programme’s long-lasting impact.
