In July, the second meeting of the implementing partners of the CABE – Circular Approaches for the Built Environment project took place in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The meeting was hosted by the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute (ZAG).
The CABE project aims to develop and pilot circular solutions in the built environment through the reuse of construction and demolition waste (CDW).
From Cyprus, the participating partners include the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), Kykloikodromio, and the Municipality of Strovolos.
During the meeting, partners presented the first results of the project, participated in study visits and workshops, and defined the next steps towards implementing sustainable circular practices in the construction sector.
In parallel, the Cypriot project team, led by Kykloikodromio, coordinated a stakeholder engagement workshop held at the Regional Development Agency for Podravje – Maribor. The workshop brought together representatives from public authorities, universities, research institutions, business organizations, and NGOs, who exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities related to the circular management of construction and demolition waste.
The CABE project is ongoing, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange on sustainable circular practices in the construction sector. It is co-funded by the European Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) partnership and, in Cyprus, by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), with the Cyprus University of Technology is the lead organization.
